The Islamic Centre in London, the capital of the United Kingdom, hosted an expanded meeting between the Secretary-General and Chairman of the Ulemas Commission, Sheikh MohammedAlissa, and Muslim leaders from across the UK.
During this meeting, the importance of adopting wisdom in the behavior of the Muslim community was emphasized, especially in the face of the provocations and strategies of extremists seeking to sow discord. It was emphasized that Islamic consciousness should allow these attempts to be thwarted, following the example of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who faced unprecedented challenges with wisdom, forgiveness and benevolence, according to the principle of "reject evil with that which is best."
Sheikh Alissa also stressed the need to unify Islamic religious reference in terms of legal dictations and religious methodology, especially in matters of general interest.
Indicated that the Islamic Fiqh Council of the League, the oldest and most prestigious Islamic jurisprudence council, will soon hold a forum at this very centre. In it, the jurisprudence of minority Muslim communities will be addressed, at the invitation of the center itself.
This forum is expected to propose the drafting of a code of this jurisprudence, likely to be updated periodically, as well as news relating to imam training programmes in the UK around the MeccaCharter. A proposal will also be presented to integrate this Charter into Islamic educational programs at different levels.
On the other hand, the Secretary-General stressed the importance of protecting the Muslim youth from ideologies other than moderate Islam, emphasizing the central role of the family, the relevance of religious education programmes, as well as the proper training of teachers. He also spoke about the influence of public platforms, in particular Friday sermons and religious conferences.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Sheikh Alissa praised the clear conscience of the British Muslim community by declaring:
"We are proud of this community, conscious and responsible, which reflects the true image of our religion in this diverse and influential society." »
Following, several questions and speeches were formulated, all hailing the role of the IslamicWorldLeague worldwide, expressing their pride and attachment to this institution, underlining the positive impact perceived at all levels within British society.
Also, the participants praised the Secretary-General's visit to the UK and his meetings with senior officials, in a context particularly important to them, especially due to the worrying increase in Islamophobia. They praised the solutions proposed by Sheikh Alissa, calling them wise and objective.
Finally, the participants highlighted the League's efforts to unify their local Islamic reference, following the example of their successful interventions in several Muslim minority countries. They expressed their renewed hope after the failure of previous attempts, underlining that the initiatives and speeches of the Secretary-General have strengthened the confidence of British society, in all its communities, towards the League of the Islamic World and its international initiatives in favour of social cohesion and the harmonious coexistence according to Islam values.
