Makkah:

The Muslim World League (MWL) has reiterated its firm stance on the central importance of the Palestinian cause in both the Islamic and humanitarian conscience. It emphasized that the unified Islamic stance on the tragic situation in Gaza represents the stance of every voice of conscience around the world that calls for the enforcement of international and humanitarian law.

In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, the MWL clarified that the remarks attributed to His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, in a Western newspaper, were taken out of their analytical context. The statements were part of an extensive study conducted by the MWL on social cohesion in countries characterized by religious and ethnic diversity—specifically referencing the United Kingdom in light of recent global developments. Furthermore, the study highlighted the deep concern shared across all components of both Muslim and non-Muslim societies regarding this tragic humanitarian issue, underscoring the importance of governments taking this into account when formulating their stances on the matter.

The MWL affirms that expressing solidarity with the cause of Gaza through lawful means is a legitimate right—one that is mandated by both religious and humanitarian duty. This is a global issue that has shaken the collective human conscience. Such expressions, when rooted in legal frameworks and aligned with the just context of the Palestinian cause, serve to strengthen social unity and promote shared humanitarian solidarity. At the same time, it blocks the path of those with malicious intent and harmful agendas, who may seek to exploit any negative reaction to undermine this cause—a just cause that is recognized by all fair-minded people. These actors also capitalize on any neglect of internal social cohesion to incite division and conflict, ultimately harming the cause itself and its supporters—especially the Muslim communities in the diaspora.

The MWL calls on all media outlets—across their various tools and platforms—to uphold accuracy and credibility when reporting information. It also urges vigilance against malicious platforms that habitually exploit just causes to serve their own agendas and interests through methods devoid of ethical values, relying instead on deceptive tactics and calculated efforts to infiltrate and manipulate public discourse.
